BJP to declare next list of candidates during committee meet

New Delhi (PTI): The BJP will declare its next list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections during its two-day Central Election Committee meeting beginning on Friday.

The states to which candidates are expected to be declared in the meet include Delhi, Haryana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.

Apart from this, the party is also slated to announce some candidates for the assembly polls in Orissa and Andhra Pradesh.

The saffron party, after its alliance collapsed in Orissa with the BJD, is on a backfoot on seat sharing with allies like JD(U) in Bihar and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.

As per sources, the party is likely to "sacrifice" Kishanganj seat in Bihar in favour of JD(U), making the seat sharing in the NDA-ruled state to 15 and 25 for BJP and JD(U) respectively.

"Some seats from Delhi could also be announced. We are concentrating on seats which are going to polls on April 16 and 23rd," party General Secretary Arun Jaitley told reporters.

The tomorrow's meeting at the party headquarters would be chaired by party chief Rajnath Singh and attended by seniors leaders like Mr. L K Advani, Mr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Ms. Sushma Swaraj and Mr. Venkaiah Naidu among others.

The party has so far announced 170 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
