Model code relaxed

The Election Commission on Monday relaxed implementation of the model code of conduct in some States where the elections are over. Ministers will now be able to undertake tours to districts along with officials, review implementation of programmes with officials except with those directly involved with poll duties and call officials to headquarters to review programmes.

However, restriction on tendering, calling for bids, evaluation and awarding of contracts will continue in Andhra Pradesh and Orissa, where the Assembly polls too have been held.
